Houseplant (flowering)
Peace Lily
Spathiphyllum wallisii

One of the few houseplants that tells you exactly when it needs water by drooping visibly, then recovers fully within hours of a drink.

| Zones | Houseplant everywhere; outdoors zones 10-12 |
| Harvest | N/A — deadhead spent white blooms to tidy the plant |
| Difficulty | Easy |
Use the droop as your watering signal
Peace lilies wilt noticeably when dry and bounce back within a couple of hours of watering, which makes them unusually easy to read compared with plants that show stress only after damage is done.
Blooms need a bit more light than leaves
The plant survives in quite low light but will rarely produce its white flower spathes without medium to bright indirect light.

- TomatoThe most-grown vegetable in home gardens, and the one most improved by consistent water and a cage or stake set at planting time.
- LettuceA fast, forgiving crop that bolts to seed in heat, so timing and shade matter more than soil fertility.
- BasilThe most temperature-sensitive common herb — it sulks below 10°C and needs regular pinching to stay leafy rather than flowering.
