Exterior Cladding
Vinyl Siding
Extruded PVC panels that clad a home's exterior, valued for low cost and zero painting requirements over a multi-decade lifespan.

Best for
- Budget-driven full-exterior re-siding
- Low-maintenance ownership — no repainting ever needed
- Moderate climates without extreme heat
Avoid when
- Very hot climates where dark colours can warp in direct sun
- Buyers wanting a premium, natural-material look up close
Dark colours can warp in intense heat
Standard vinyl softens at moderate temperatures, and dark-coloured panels absorb enough solar heat in sunny climates to warp or buckle. Manufacturers now sell heat-reflective dark formulations specifically to address this — ask before choosing a dark colour in a hot region.
It moves with temperature
Vinyl siding is installed with slightly loose nailing to allow expansion and contraction; nailing it down tight (a common installer mistake) causes buckling and waviness within a year or two.
