Avoid when
- Areas exposed to direct high heat from pans, which can scorch the resin
- Buyers wanting a fully natural, one-of-a-kind stone look
Non-porous means no sealing
Unlike granite or marble, quartz doesn't need periodic sealing because the resin binder makes it essentially non-absorbent — wipe up wine, oil, and juice without staining.
Heat is the one real weakness
The resin content means quartz can scorch or discolour from a hot pan set directly on it, unlike solid granite. Always use a trivet.
